COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAM

RCDS is committed to enhancing both family and professional awareness regarding early childhood development and current issues affecting young children. Our Community Outreach Program includes a variety of educational opportunities including training workshops for other childhood programs, as well as educational conferences which are open to both professionals and parents.

Training Workshops

RCDS offers both free and fee-based on-site training workshops to select pediatric and early childhood programs, school districts, community groups and other organizations at locations throughout the Metro NY Area, Orange and Rockland Counties. Our most popular workshops include the following topics:
  • RED FLAGS for IDENTIFYING DEVELOPMENTALLY DELAYED CHILDREN (Birth to Age 5)
  • BEHAVIORAL STRATEGIES: Effectively Guiding and Teaching Young Children
  • POSITIVE PARENTING: Appreciating Parenthood Stages and Impact of Culture and Family Origin
  • SENSORY INTEGRATION: Understanding how Sensory Dysfunction can Affect Learning and Behavior
  • AUTISM & OTHER PERVASIVE DEVELOPMENTAL DISORDERS: Understanding Signs, Symptoms, Incidence, Diagnosis and Treatment Options
  • APPLIED BEHAVIOR ANALYSIS (ABA): Overview of Essential Elements of ABA Techniques, Learning Concepts and Programming
  • FEEDING & SWALLOWING in EARLY CHILDHOOD: Overview of Common Warning Signs, Symptoms, Assessment Process and Approaches to Treatment
  • STIMULATING LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT: Understanding how to Maximize a Child’s Expressive and Receptive Communication Skills

Other topics can be tailored to the specific needs of each program and may be arranged for a weekday or weekend during daytime or evening hours.

Conferences

In addition to offering on-site trainings within the community, RCDS hosts many FREE and fee-based educational conferences which are open to all professionals and parents. These seminars are arranged at hotels and conference centers throughout the Metro NY area as well as Rockland and Orange Counties.
